Impact of Pitot tube diameter on the centre line mean flow velocity in multi-scale grid-generated turbulence

Abstract In this study, the impact of leading-edge diameter a Pitot tube on mean flow decaying turbulence generated by multi-scale grid was investigated. Standard tubes with leading edge diameters 4 and 6 mm were used in installed at entrance test section to generate turbulence. The characteristic velocity observed be 2.8 m/s. downstream region section, velocities measured two sufficiently good agreement, as well acceleration parameters calculated region. However, upstream region, obtained slightly different. thin showed higher corresponding jet-like structure that has been described previous research. contrast, not distribution thick tube. This difference is discussed here from perspective turbulent component measurement uncertainty.
